Summary: Willow weaving crafts are loved by consumers for their use of natural green raw materials and the meticulous weaving of skilled craftsmen. Green, natural, fashionable, and environmentally friendly, they cater to people's pursuit of a healthy and green lifestyle. 80%-90% of willow weaving products are exported to developed countries such as Europe and America. Willow weaving crafts are loved by consumers for their use of natural green raw materials and the meticulous craftsmanship involved. Their green, natural, fashionable, and eco-friendly nature appeals to people's pursuit of healthy and green living.
80%-90% of willow weaving products are exported to developed countries such as Europe and America. Only a small portion is consumed domestically, mainly by hotels, supermarkets, and home décor stores. However, with the improvement of domestic consumption levels and quality of life, the demand for willow weaving crafts is also increasing.
However, the price of willow weaving crafts has remained high recently. The author believes that there are several main reasons for this:
  1. Due to climatic conditions, last year's drought resulted in poor willow harvests, reduced yields, and lower quality. With a shortage of raw materials but continued, even increased, market demand, prices have inevitably risen. This has led to the procurement of willow branches from other regions, as evidenced by the recent appearance of northeastern willow branches in the Linyi local market.
  2. Secondly, there is an increase in labor costs. This situation has already appeared in the south, mainly manifested as a labor shortage, and this phenomenon also exists in inland cities. Nowadays, few young people are willing to stay at home to weave these crafts; they prefer to seek opportunities elsewhere. Even if wages aren't necessarily higher, their greatest desire is to leave the countryside for city life and the work environment there. Therefore, the main weavers are older people and some housewives. Although they are willing to stay at home and continue in this industry, they will still consider the income gap between working outside and weaving at home. If the weaving income is lower than the cost of working outside, they will not accept orders from brokers.
  3. Price rigidity. For example, have you ever seen real estate prices go down? Prices generally keep rising. This example may not be entirely appropriate, but the point I want to make is that once the price of willow weaving crafts rises, it is difficult to bring it down again.
